Your data is collected only through the forms you complete on our website.

In order to achieve our goals we need to collect the names of you and the child(ren) you are signing-up. We collect your email address in order to be able to communicate with you and form connections between you and other parents. We collect your postal code, the name of your child’s school and the school’s postcode and your child’s year at school or their age in order for us to help you to form appropriate local community-based groups.

We may also use your email address to communicate with you directly to provide updates about Kids For Now. Wee may provide an email newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing us at info@kidsfornow.org.uk

 

What legal basis do we have for processing your personal data?

We process your data on the basis of your consent. Your consent is given when you complete the form on the website. We process your data solely in order to serve our stated aims of connecting you with other parents in your child’s school or local community who have also signed up because they want to delay smartphones for their child.

We need to collect the most basic information about your child (name, school, school year or age) in order to connect you with parents of other children in your child’s year at their school.

Your name and email address will be shared with the other families from your child’s year at their school who have also signed-up on this website. We share your email address by sending a group email to the parents of children in your child’s year at their school when another childs parent sign up.

This is in order to connect you with each other to reduce peer-pressure and help you to support one another. No other personal information is shared.

We treat your personal data with confidentiality.

We will not share your information with any other third party outside of our organization and your information will not be made public.

Where do we store and process personal data?

Our website is hosted in the US. Data entered on this website is encrypted and stored by Google in the U.S. before being processed by Kids For Now in the UK in accordance with GDPR.

 

We ensure the highest standard of data security within our organisation. Our database is stored and encrypted securely on our UK premises.

 

How do we secure personal data?

Your personal data is stored in our database on a storage device. The data does not leave our premises physically or electronically other than for the purposes stated above.

We have appropriate firewalls in place to prevent unauthorised access by a third party.

The original copy of the data submitted on the website remains encrypted with Google and may be used for recovery in case of accident or disaster such as fire.

We restrict the persons who have access to your personal data only to carry out the business of Kids For Now as stated on our site.

 

How long do we keep your personal data for?

We only keep your personal data for as long as necessary. This will depend on your childs school year or age when you sign up. Once your child reaches the end of the period signed-up for, either primary school or secondary school, we will keep your personal data no longer than reasonably necessary. We may keep your record for up to 18 months as part of our data retention scheme and in case we need to maintain contact with you for any reason.  

 

At the end of this time your data will be completely deleted from all of our systems and from Google.

 

Your rights in relation to personal data

Under GDPR you have the right to access and control your personal data.

You may contact us to ensure correction or deletion of your data. You may withdraw consent. You may receive a copy of your data.

You may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
